About Me
Kate Baxter's Approach
I completed my studies in Darwin in 2005 and initially began working in the not-for-profit sector supporting clients with drug and alcohol problems. I now work with adults on a wide range of concerns. My areas of interest include – anxiety (general, panic attacks, OCD, phobias) and depression, developmental (childhood) trauma, addictions, family and relationship problems, developing self-love and compassion, problems with communication and boundaries, sleep difficulties, anger management, and grief and loss.
I provide a warm and nurturing space that fosters connection and compassion and where clients are invited to explore a deeper understanding of themselves.
My approach is based on a somatic framework. This style of therapy builds on traditional therapies by integrating a body approach that seeks to work alongside thoughts and emotions. I also draw upon other modalities, such as – mindfulness, psychodynamic (building awareness of the link between our childhood and how this shows up in adult life), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, attachment theory, and havening. I also have a background in classical yoga and is teacher-trained.
